This commercial is funny. Even when he pretends to be an Indian guy. Unfortunately, it's not ok.
No white person can get away with pretending to be black, so pretending to be brown isn't really allowed either. Or any other minority for that matter.
No, it doesn't make sense. But neither did slavery and the fact that it's taking us so many years to get over it and treat each other with fairness, equality, and a sense of justice.
So for now, still, you can't pretend to be a minority if you're white.
If this bothers you, tough. Find another way to be funny. Trust me, there's PLENTY.
What's funny is that all this controversy will only increase the public profile of the product he's doing the ad for which is...um...er?
