A buddy of mine first tweeted me this facebook post:

On first look I figured MCR was crapping all over Tom and his/her decision to start living as a woman.
But then Jordan on our station facebook page let me know there was a full rant and she posted it:
THIS INDUSTRY IS SHIT: I read yesterday that the singer of one of my favorite bands is about to start transitioning into a woman. Tom Gabel from Against Me!http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/tom-gabel-of-against-me-comes-out-as-transgender-20120508 For some reason I thought that maybe it was a joke... Seemed too blunt to go from punk rock singer to Rolling Stone picture, cliché woman pose, towel on head and all. But then again, what the fuck do i know about this type of thing? I don't think there's a handbook on the proper procedure for transitioning from a man to a woman. For the 1% of people reading this who know who the band "Life Of Agony" is, their singer Keith Caputo has been going through the same thing for the past couple years. Keith is now Mina. Rolling Stone didn't dig very deep before calling this "...the first time a major rock star has come out as transgender". Strange thing to say because I don't see either of them as major rock stars. They both have insanely unique and powerful voices, and exist (existed) at the top of their own underground scenes. Scenes where you get lashed out against for being played on the radio, none the less being considered a rock star. Either way, why is it not until now that they're worthy enough to get a full spread in Rolling Stone? And a Pitchfork mention too?! That's like winning the lottery in the music industry. Certain industry people would swallow gallons of cum to get their bands even the smallest mention from either of those 2 sites. Against Me! has been releasing music since '97. At one point we shared a manager, and this past summer we toured together on Warped Tour. You can kill yourself for years on the road. Sweating and playing for anyone who shows up, believing that if you work hard enough the right people will notice and help you move up the ladder. That's not true. Its either completely by luck that you get through the door; it's because the right people have decided that your allowed in, or it's because there's a story attached that’s far more interesting than just a guy writing good music. There’s no longer a mass appeal to raw emotion and honesty, it has to be 98% entertainment. Even the president we elect has to be a showman. It’s the new requirement. Obama and his wife have to do the late night talk show circuit, act in funny skits on Jimmy Fallon, do stand-up routines in front of the press. They have to be considered cool, and sarcastic, someone just like you and me! I don’t want someone just like you or me to run our country. And so it’s pretty clear why more people haven’t heard of Against Me! – their lyrics and their music. It wasn’t considered entertaining enough until now. This isn’t a blog, I don’t write blogs, and I’m not even sure what blog stands for. Sorry for the rant, my Mom doesn't know who Against Me! is - I had no one else to tell.
Mr. Lopez
So Zack's beef wasn't with Tom being transgender. It was with the industry waiting until Tom's announcement to give a talented, hard-working band some shine in Rolling Stone and Pitchfork.
...Makes sense to me.
