TERRE HAUTE (WIBQ) - Parents and children lined up at the Vigo County Health Department Wednesday to take advantage of free vaccinations, required for children in grades 6 to 12 under a new state law. The new law requires that students receive vaccines against meningitis, chicken pox and pertussis. Health Department officials say Wednesday's turnout was the largest so far with the line of people waiting for the shots lining the hallways and extending outdoors at the Vigo County Health Annex.
One more walk-in clinic is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 14. If you can't attend the clinic you can call the health department at (812) 462-3431 and arrange an appointment time for your child to be vaccinated. Those times are on Tuesday and Thursday after August 31st.
