(Lansing, MI) -- A lawsuit has been filed by three state employee unions in an effort to prevent state employees to pay three-percent of their salaries toward healthcare for retirees. The "Lansing State Journal" reports the lawsuits were filed separately this month by United Auto Workers 6000, the Michigan State Employees Association and AFSCME Council 25. The unions said in their lawsuits the three-percent contribution to retiree healthcare violates the state constitution because it's not part of the three-year contract negotiated with the state. The attorney general's office declined comment.
