DETROIT (WKZO) -- Wayne County Circuit Court Judge David Groner is again saying any proceeds earned by former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick from his book will be put in escrow. The fund would be used to pay an outstanding fine owed by Kilpatrick.
The former mayor tried to argue that having the profits from the book seized was a violation of his First Amendment right to free speech, something Groner disagreed with. Kilpatrick owes the city of Detroit over 860-thousand dollars in restitution from his plea deal that drove him out of office.
