LANSING, MI (Metro Source) - Flags across the state will be lowered on Monday to honor Private First Class Brian Backus of Harbor Beach. Backus died on June 18^th while on active duty in Afghanistan. His awards include: The National Defense Service Medal; the Afghanistan Campaign Medal; the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; the Army Service Ribbon; and the Combat Medical Badge.
