The nation has never entered the Oscar race before, but director Tusi Tamasese's film is among submissions for the 2012 Oscars.

Also up for consideration in the Foreign Language Film category at the 84th Academy Awards are movies from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, China, Denmark, Georgia, Iceland, India, Morocco, Peru and the Slovak Republic.

Five films will be selected for the nomination, which will be announced on 24 January (11).
