EAST LANSING, MIch (WLMI) Michigan State University is proposing an urban-agriculture research center in the city of Detroit. The research effort would be devoted to growing food inside cities by using vacant urban land. Researchers will grow food in multistory buildings and develop innovative ways to produce energy and conserve water in food production. MSU officials say over time the urban-agricultural research center could grow into a 100-million-dollar investment supporting a 100-acre campus.
