LEONI TWP, Mich (WLMI) The track damaged Wednesday morning after an Amtrak passenger train derailed near Jackson has been fixed. Police say the portion of track damaged when the train hit a semi has been repaired—however, trains that travel along that route will have to reduce speed from 60-miles per hour to 10-miles an hour, for now. Two test runs overnight proved successful—crews are still in the process of securing the rails, which is why the lower speed limit is being imposed. The focus now? Removing the train’s engine and two passenger cars. Officials say THAT will likely take a couple of days. About 70-passengers were on the train when it collided around 8-30 Wednesday morning—miraculously, there were only minor injuries reported.
