One of the two finalists for the job of Holland city manager has withdrawn his name from the search. Derek Todd, the former town administrator of Frederick, Colo., cited “personal reasons” for his decision to withdraw from the search Tuesday. That leaves Spring Lake Village Administrator Ryan Cotton as the lone candidate to replace the retired Soren Wolff as the city’s top administrative official. The City Council will meet at 5:30 Wednesday night with the search committee that has been working on the city manager search. A special council meeting had been scheduled for 6:30 p.m., at which a vote was expected to be taken. Mayor Kurt Dykstra said Tuesday night that he does not know if the council will vote to name a new city manager at Wednesday’s meeting. Dykstra did not disclose specifically what led to Todd’s withdrawal, but called his reason “very legitimate” and that he was an excellent candidate for the job.
