LANSING, Mich (WLMI) The 123rd Trooper Recruit School is underway in Lansing. Nearly 100 prospective state troopers are spending the next 19 weeks training, with graduation set for October 19. Recruits will get training in firearms, water safety, defensive tactics, patrol techniques, report writing, ethics, first aid, criminal law, crime scene processing and precision driving. This is the first of two trooper schools this year, part of Governor Snyder's plan to hire 180 new state troopers. The second will start in October.
