DETROIT, Mich (WLMI) Detroit Mayor Dave Bing says the state's consent agreement will not solve the city's financial problems and he has told Governor Rick Snyder the proposal is not acceptable. The agreement was presented to city officials yesterday—it calls for the creation of a financial advisory board and would have city council members reporting to Mayor Bing. The three year proposal would downsize city employees, outsource departments, and could result in the sale of city assets to generate nearly 140-million-dollars. State Treasurer Andy Dillon says he plans to meet with council members early next week to discuss the proposal.
