LANSING (WKZO) -- Governor Snyder signed legislation Tuesday that provides amnesty for minors who seek medical treatment for alcohol poisoning. Until now, the law stated that anyone under 21 could be cited with a misdemeanor offense for the purchase, possession or consumption of alcohol if they sought treatment for alcohol poisoning.
This, according to Governor Snyder, sometimes deterred minors from seeking proper medical attention. He says, "removing the fear of penalty when seeking emergency assistance can help save lives."
