SIENA COLLEGE -- You can call him Dr. Derek Jeter, although his sister says she never will. Kalamazoo’s Yankee Captain has received an honorary degree from Siena College. They held their Graduation Sunday on their campus just north of Albany, New York.
Jeter and the Yankees had a game on Sunday so he sent a tape and his sister Sharlee to pinch hit for him. She says there is only one doctor in the Jeter family and that’s her dad.
Jeter was given an honorary degree, but not for his baseball exploits. He won it because of his “Turn-2 Foundation” and the work it does to keep kids on a positive path and away from drugs.
