DETROIT (WKZO) -- U.S. Congressman Gary Peters is "seriously considering" a run for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Carl Levin. Peters says that his party needs to hold onto the seat because of the very slim majority Democrats have in the Senate. Peters currently serves portions of Detroit and Oakland County and has been elected to the House of Representatives three times.
Potential Republican candidates include former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, former Michigan Governor John Engler, and U.S. Representative Mike Rogers who is chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.
